Yiannis Taverna Greek Restaurant

Yianni’s Taverna, located on White Avenue in Edmonton’s historic Strathcona district, occupies a 3,000 ft2 space within a 100-year-old former grocery store. With limited architectural character and only one street-facing wall, the site posed unique design challenges. CKDESIGN was brought on for a complete redesign, which included relocating the kitchen and bar, reconfiguring raised areas, and introducing an indoor-outdoor patio and a new reception area.

The refreshed design draws on traditional Greek elements, blending historical and ancient motifs to reflect the restaurant’s rich cultural heritage. Renovating a 30-year-old concept required thoughtful adaptation, but the result is an authentic, revitalized space that honors Yianni’s legacy while positioning it for continued success in the decades ahead.
