Sakai Sushi Bar

Inspired by a culinary journey through Japan and influenced by our client’s favourite sushi bar in Tokyo, Sakai Sushi set out to introduce an authentic yet contemporary Japanese dining experience to Northern Alberta. The design concept was crafted to transport guests, offering a taste of Japan’s rich culture through both cuisine and ambiance. Every detail was thoughtfully considered to evoke the spirit of traditional Japanese dining while embracing modern sophistication, creating a space where diners can enjoy not only exquisite food but also an immersive atmosphere that reflects the essence of Japanese hospitality.

To make the 2,500 ft2 space truly unique, the design incorporates wall coverings inspired by the intricate artistry of traditional Japanese tattoo motifs. These bold, cultural visuals add depth and character without overwhelming the serene environment. Complemented by warm teak wood and honey-toned accents, the overall palette combines clean lines and natural textures to foster a calming and inviting atmosphere. The resulting space strikes a harmonious balance between cultural authenticity and contemporary elegance—inviting guests to relax, savor their meals, and experience a slice of Japan in Northern Alberta.
