Original Joe’s

Our team has had the pleasure of designing close to 100 Original Joe’s locations over the past 20 years. This casual dining restaurant chain has gone through three design iterations in our office, evolving from a market-leading neighbourhood gastropub into a modern neighbourhood sports and entertainment restaurant space. The design has always been rooted in hospitality, warmth, and a welcoming atmosphere—an inviting place where guests feel at home, whether stopping in for lunch, grabbing a bite on the way home, or enjoying dinner or brunch on one of the many patios across Western Canada.

The interiors are consistently designed around a focal bar, featuring oak finishes on all surfaces and a solid-surface bar top. Oak millwork extends throughout the dining room, with butcher block tables, wall paneling, and in some cases even flooring, reinforcing the warmth central to the Original Joe’s concept. Furniture selections emphasize wood-framed, upholstered seating, while lighting is intentionally minimal, using pendant cans and mini tracks to highlight the distinctive art package at each location. Original Joe’s was also a pioneer among our restaurant clients, being the first to convert fully to LED lighting, creating a crisper, dimmable, and energy-efficient environment.
